Paratrooper badge D1-D2 “hybrid” – Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid. Full tombac paratrooper badge with extremely rare D1 eagle and unconventional D2 observer wreath. The badge remains in worn condition and has had been riveted to a D2 wreath. Very appealing and high quality badge looking badge. However noted should be this is not a normal factory production piece and might be a period or more modern modification. Having said that the wreath is not the typical D2 para wreath and is slightly different in cut, showing it matches the D2 Observer wreath. Observer wreaths have different drill holes, making this an interesting but also very untypical product that raises more questions than it answers.
I can only guarantee the parts of this badge are period and that it is most certainly put together at some point in time.
