DKIG Hauptmann Anton Schwanzer Gren. Rgt. 199 “List”. Very interesting light weight C.F. Zimmermann marked 20 cross with cupal back plate named to Hauptmann Anton Schwanzer 11./Gren.Rgt. 199 “Regiment List” Hitlers old regiment. Dated 20.9.1943. Comes with private purchased/made box that shows heavy wear to the outside and has some repairs in the corners. Both Anton his Shoulder boards and Officer breast eagle are present. This set was first documented in 2002 when a member on WAF got it from his relatives, a few more items were present at the type but have gotten sold off separately along the way. Very rare to find a good engraved DKIG, especially to a special Regiment like that of the 199th.
Cross itself remains in good worn condition with intact enamel showing no chips or damage. White backing of the cross was very lightly cleaned at some point and the top wreath still shows a good amount of the original gilding still present. Shows the typical Zimmermann die flaw at 11. O’Clock.
Great cross with history to it.
