Waffen-SS KIA grouping Unstf. Werner Mechnig (Wiking)

Waffen-SS KIA grouping Unstf. Werner Mechnig (Wiking). Very interesting grouping to a decorated Unstersturmführer that served with the SS-VT and later with the 5th SS Wiking, both with the Panzerjäger and later Artillerie. Mechnig was killed on 2.9.1943 during the battles at the west of Charkew. He took an artillery hit in his forward position as Observer and quickly died of this heavy injuries.
Mechnig was awarded quite a few awards:

Ek2 on 18.8.1942
Ost medal on 1.9.1942
Ek1 on 28.7.43

Mechnig attended the Junckerschuld Tölz fin late 41 and finished in early 42. Was trained with both the PAK 3.7 and 5cm. He joined the in July 1940 and was placed in the 3./Panzerabwehr-Abteilung SS-VT.
