U-boot badge – Friedrich Orth, Wien. Zinc U-Boat badge maker marked with the FO logo. The badge lost most of its gold finish but still shows a bit of a golden glow on it. A small hole was designated to be drilled out to fit the catch. But the makers chose the horizontal setup over the vertical in this case. The small hole allowed for a good direct soldering of the catch, unlike most other makers that used a base plate to attach catches properly. No damage or repairs on this nicely marked U-boot badge.
