U-Boat commander Wilhelm Cranz grouping. Rare grouping to the KIA commander of U-398 Leutnant zur See Wilhelm Cranz. Cranz was awarded the Ek2, Ek1, U-boat badge and Front clasp. His boat went missing on or after 17 April in the North Sea (Niestlé, 1998). He would have been 30 years old few days later. (https://uboat.net/men/commanders/177.html)
