Portrait infantry-regiment 489. Very sharp portrait with a freshly awarded IAB in wear and well worn first pattern wound badge. The soldier is wearing the inf-reg 489 slip-on`s, the unit took part in the fighting for France, operation Barbarossa, stationed in Norway, put to service on the western front from November 1944 and later surrendered to the Soviet forces in may 45. Part of the 269th inf div and was renamed greandier-regiment 489 in okt 42. A fault line on the middle of the portrait is the only damage visible, besides that a minty looking portrait on Agfa postcard paper. W. Bangert Hammi.w. atelier stamp at the bottom.
