Knights cross holder portrait Jürgen Maercken. Rare portrait of Jürgen Freiherr von Maercken zu Geerath who was commander of Abteilung 1 1./Panzer regiment 36. Maercken was awarded the knights cross on the 7th of July 1941. The portrait is on Mimosa portrait paper and shows little to no wear with exception of the top left corner. Maercken died late in the war on 15.02.45 near Seiffersdorf. Rare to find a private portrait let alone one with signature, dated 1944.
Later on the war he was the commander of Panzer-Ersatz-Abteilung “Sagan”.
