The armaments worker Franz Hahne, who was the first person to receive the Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross upon the recommendation of Reich Minister Speer, is a master craftsman in an armaments factory. Through tireless effort and exceptional inventiveness he contributed greatly to German armaments production. He successfully solved numerous technical problems, especially in adapting lessons learned at the front to weapons development. Hahne was 46 years old, married, and had two children.
